“I never teach my pupils, I only attempt to provide the conditions in which they can learn.” ― Albert Einstein
I believe that educating children is more than teaching academics. I believe that in order for a child to learn well, other needs must be attended to. Some call it teaching to the "whole child" or "social emotional" learning. I just see it as my duty as an educator to do my best to create an environment where my students can feel comfortable to learn. It is my duty to provide as many opportunities for them to have access to their education. They also play a role in helping create that learning environment. I encourage my students to advocate for themselves and try to create a space where they can feel like they are valued and heard. I've found that this helps with classroom management and academic achievement.
