I absolutely love integrating technology in my classroom. I am always searching for ways to make learning come alive for my students, as well as, making education be more accessible to them. This past year I used websites and applications like Edmodo, icivics.com, and Forms (Microsoft Office) during instruction and assessments. I was fortunate enough to have a laptop cart in my classroom so all of my students were able to work individually. I also like to use applications that are mobile friendly so that my students can access their work anywhere. Here are some examples of work I've created and utilized in my instruction.
Concept Mapping
Most students benefit from visuals in their instruction, especially when it comes to understanding concepts and how they are related to each other. Google Draw is great tool that helps me take a plain concept map and turn into a more interactive tool with images and links. I can easily share this as a pdf (click on the image) where students can access it on their devices. |
Digital Storytelling
I like using videos in my instruction because it helps me reach students of different learning styles at the same time. Here I used digital storytelling to teach about the Bill of Rights. It provides opportunity for students to access parts of instruction they may have missed. The great part about digital storytelling is that it is not only limited to professionals. Many devices now come with free video editing software that is easy to use. Students could also use this method for their own presentations. |

Electronic Whiteboard - SmartBoard
Here's a game I created for my students in my summer placement when we were learning about the continents. What I love about the applications that comes with SmartBoard is that the lessons can be accessed on multiple devices. Students can join in (similar to logging into Kahoot) with the class code. |
